The industry is like that every month got at least a few courses conducted for taxi driving aspirers (forced by situation or attempting to get a license as backup) . Though not would eventually get their taxi license, there are always newbies entering the industry. So got throw keys type also got newbies coming in. So competition would be the same.

50000 of those who threw keys already still refused to give up taxi license, pay to go for medical checkups and renew license during renewal periods (unlike property agent industry) knowing they would need it one of these days as they may be retrenched anytime given the huge influx of foreigners.

It's really a lot of people attempting to enter the industry every month with Comfort conducting at leat 3 courses per month, more likely 3 per month by Singapore Taxi Academy and don't know how many courses by SMRT.

If SMRT conducts also 3 courses per month, then it is 270 newbies per month and potentially up to 3240 Singaporeans per year. However the real number is lower as not all people could pass the taxi exam and most take more than 1 attempt to get the license. 1 uncle even took 80 attempts to get his license.

When I took my course, the instructor told us about 4/30 (13.33%) would pass in 1 attempt and said last time a lot easier to pass. But not long ago, I read 70% passed in 1 attempt.

I am not worry abt newbies competition, because they new mah, so abit gong gong tai tai, I am worry about those elite and rangers like my bro CT on the road only, if he throw key, less him meaning less 10 newbies altogether hor.

To taxi drivers, it is another must pay rental day....so must work to ensure not making a loss that day...... where got so Ho Mia like employees of companies who get paid holidays ? Taxi drivers go negative if don't work. For some, it is lose $100+ per day if don't drive at all.....some even closed to $200 like our "Man in White" OMO brothers who drive new Mercedes.

Wah....22.4 customers per day assuming no rest day.....pretty high by Grab-car standard.

My average for a 12-hour stretch day including fuel-top up and car wash using regular taxi is 20-25 customers.

Philip 50" TV is $734 ( http://www.lazada.sg/shop-tvs/ ). So their best drivers get $24.46 extra per day for chong ka liao. I assume they would work more than 12 hours per day.

However regular taxi still better because don't have to lose 20% profit to them.
